TFT:Thin Film Transistor
يكي از انواع LCD يا همان صفحه نمايش كريستال مايع است با تكنولوژي صفحه تخت.
در مقايسه با ساير انواع LCD ها از كيفيت تصوير عالي و زمان پاسخ (Response Time)  بالايي برخوردار است اما از مصرف انرژي بالاتري نسبت به بقيه برخوردار است و همچنين گرانتر است.
تكنولوژي TFT بر مبناي تكنولوژي ماتريس فعال(Active-MAtrix Technology) كار ميكند به اين مفهوم كه مدار كوچكي از ترانزيستور در كنار هر پيكسل قرار دارد و به پيكسل اين امكان را ميدهد تا بصورت منحصر به فرد خاموش و روشن شود.
اين روش زمان پاسخ سريعتر . همچنين كنتراست بهتري را نسبت به تكنولوژي ماتريس غير فعال(Pasive-Matrix Technology) فراهم مي آورد.

TFD:Thin Film Diode
يكي ديگر از انواع LCD يا همان صفحه نمايش كريستال مايع است با تكنولوژي صفحه تخت.
تكنولوژي TFD تركيبي از زمان پاسخ سريع و كيفيت تصوير عالي TFT است همراه با مصرف انرژي كم و قيمت كم STN.
تكنولوژي TFD نيز بر مبناي تكنولوژي ماتريس فعال(Active-MAtrix Technology) كار ميكند به اين مفهوم كه مدار كوچكي از ديود در كنار هر پيكسل قرار دارد و به پيكسل اين امكان را ميدهد تا بصورت منحصر به فرد خاموش و روشن شود.

STN:Super Twisted Nematic
نوعي ديگر از انواع LCD است كه بر مبناي تكنولوژي ماتريس غير فعال كار ميكند به اين صورت كه در آن هر پيكسل در هر ثانيه چندين بار Refresh ميشود. كه اين سرعت پاسخ را كم ميكند و شفافيت و كنتراست را محدود ميسازد.
اما از مزاياي آن ميتوان به مصرف انرژي پايينتر نسبت به TFT و همچنين قيمت ارزانتر آن اشاره كرد

TFD

STN
STN (Super Twisted Nematic) is a type of LCD (liquid crystal display) flat-panel display technology. CSTN stands for Color Super Twisted Nematic. Both terms can refer to the same type of color LCD display.
STN uses less power and is less costly than TFT technology, but at the expense of image quality and response time. STN technology is a passive-matrix technology, meaning that each pixel must be "refreshed" individually many times each second. To accomplish this, the liquid crystal must react slowly enough to maintain state between refreshes. This keeps response times relatively low, and limits brightness and contrast.
